 2023 Preview 


       Banks Academy completed the 2022 season with a 6-5 record. With their 2-2 region record and a third place finish in Class AA region two, the Jets earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Banks Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Edgewood Academy by a score of 14-7.

       No team at Banks Academy ever won more games in a season than the six victories last year.

      

       Banks Academy is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only four seasons. They have managed a record of 19-23 over the past four years.




       The Jets are led by head coach Jermaine Watson who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 6-5 record in his first season at Banks Academy. Under his direction the Jets have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Watson.

      

       The Jets open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Bessemer Academy on Friday, August 25. Last year the Bessemer Academy Rebels finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in eighth place in Class AAA region one. The Rebels ended last season on a positive note with a win over Cornerstone Christian by a score of 34-8 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Banks Academy and Bessemer Academy have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Jets have a 2-1-0 record against the Rebels. They last met in 2022 with Banks Academy winning by a score of 21-9.

       Banks Academy lost AISA All-State  running back Joshua Bonner to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating was teammate defensive lineman Demarian Daniels.
