2023 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hale County completed the 2022 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Hale County just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 4A region three with a 3-4 region record. Hale County was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Wildcats want to be competitive. They only averaged 16.8 points a game. Since 2010, Hale County has gone a combined 57-79. Their 41.9% winning percentage ranks 42nd in Class 4A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Hale County has managed to compile a record of 122-142. Their 46.0% winning percentage ranks 37th in Class 4A and 229th in the AHSAA. The Wildcats are led by head coach Ryan Locke who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 4-6 record in his first season at Hale County. The Wildcats have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Locke. Over the course of his career, Coach Locke's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times and won one region championship. The Wildcats could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region three this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Hale County came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year. The Wildcats open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Northside on Friday, August 25 at Northside Stadium. Last year the Northside Rams finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in third place in Class 4A region five. The Rams lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Etowah by a score of 42-21. Hale County and Northside have met a total of 49 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 30-19-0 record against the Rams. They last met in 2022 with Northside winning by a score of 35-0. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
