Patrician Academy completed the 2022 season with a 13-0 record. Last year Patrician Academy captured the region two title and a number one seed in the Class AA playoffs. They finished region play with a 4-0 record. The Patrician Academy Saints claimed the AISA-AA State Championship by defeating Clarke Prep 60-0 in Troy. No team at Patrician Academy ever won more games in a season than the thirteen victories last year. The last time they won as many was back in 1988. The Saints hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Lindsey saw improvement as they won thirteen games following a 8-3 record in 2021. Over the past two seasons the Saints have Finished 21-3 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, Patrician Academy has gone a combined 101-52. Their 66.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class AA over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Patrician Academy has managed to compile a record of 187-101. Their 65.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class AA and 6th in the AISA. The Saints are led by head coach Jonathan Lindsey who is entering his twelveth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 83-46 over the past eleven seasons at Patrician Academy. Under his direction the Saints have qualified for the playoffs a total of eleven times. They have won three region crowns with Coach Lindsey. Coach Lindsey has won two state championships at Patrician Academy, the last coming in 2022. The Saints enter the 2023 season riding a 13 game winning streak. They have also won 16 consecutive regular season games. Patrician Academy has won 6 consecutive region games. They have won 9 straight games on their home turf at Hannah-Hesselman Field. While most teams rebuild during the off season, Patrician Academy has been a consistent winner the past few years and will simply reload this season. The Saints open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Morgan Academy on Friday, August 25 at Hannah-Hesselman Field. Last year the Morgan Academy Senators finished with an overall record of 7-5 and in third place in Class AAA region one. The Senators lost in the semi-finals round of the Class AAA playoffs to Glenwood School by a score of 42-8. Patrician Academy and Morgan Academy have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Saints have a 4-2-0 record against the Senators. They last met in 2022 with Patrician Academy winning by a score of 48-26. The Saints lost a ton of talent to graduation off the 2022 squad. Replacing these players will be a key to another successful season. Patrician Academy lost AISA All-State running back Cecil Perry to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating were teammates offensive lineman Jack Gibson, linebacker Clark Ezell, defensive back Tate Boykin and athlete Augustus Lewis. The Saints return AISA All-State Senior defensive lineman Jay Lindsey. He was named to the first team last season. The Saints also return Senior linebacker Carson Coody.
