 2023 Preview 


       Tabernacle completed the 2022 season with a 5-4 record. With their 4-2 region record and a place finish in Class 8 Man region , the Torches earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Tabernacle's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Jacksonville Christian by a score of 46-32.

       Since 2010, Tabernacle has gone a combined 83-46. Their 64.3% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 8 Man over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Tabernacle has managed to compile a record of 142-88. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class 8 Man and 5th in the .




       The Torches are led by head coach Clint Chase who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 13-13 over the past three seasons at Tabernacle. Under his direction the Torches have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Chase.

      

       The Torches open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Hillcrest Evergreen on Friday, August 25 at Moncrief Park. Last year the Hillcrest Evergreen Jaguars finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in fifth place in Class 3A region one. The Jaguars closed out the regular season with a loss to Daphne by a score of 34-14.

       This will be the first meeting between Tabernacle and Hillcrest Evergreen on the football field.

The Super 6 State Championships began in 1996. Since then all title games were played at Legion Field in Birmingham until 2009.
