 2023 Preview 


       Bibb County completed the 2022 season with a 7-4 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 4A region three, the Choctaws earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Bibb County's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Jacksonville by a score of 35-28.

       The Choctaws had some tough luck last season as three of their four losses were by less than eight points.

       Since 2010, Bibb County has gone a combined 115-41. Their 73.7% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 4A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Bibb County has managed to compile a record of 182-105. Their 63.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 4A and 75th in the AHSAA.




       The Choctaws are led by head coach Matt Geohagan who is entering his ninth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 72-25 over the past eight seasons at Bibb County. Under his direction the Choctaws have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times. They have won four region crowns with Coach Geohagan.

       Coach Geohagan has built a very solid football program at Bibb County. Nothing will change this fall as the Choctaws will continue their winning ways.

       The Choctaws are considered one of the favorites for the region three championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Choctaws have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2012 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

      Edge rusher Trashun Griffin will be returning in 2023 to anchor a solid defense.

       The Choctaws open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Chilton County on Friday, August 25 at Tiger Stadium. Last year the Chilton County Tigers finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in seventh place in Class 6A region three. The Tigers ended last season on a positive note with a win over Marbury by a score of 31-14 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Bibb County and Chilton County have met a total of 75 times on the football field. The Choctaws have a 39-33-3 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2022 with Chilton County winning by a score of 30-24.
