 2023 Preview 


       Cleveland completed the 2022 season with a 7-4 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 2A region six, the Panthers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Cleveland's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Winston County by a score of 50-14.

       The Panthers hope to get back closer to the 12-3 record in 2021.

       Since 2010, Cleveland has gone a combined 93-57. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 2A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Cleveland has managed to compile a record of 144-131. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 2A and 168th in the AHSAA.




       The Panthers are led by head coach Will Glaze who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-4 record in his first season at Cleveland. Under his direction the Panthers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Glaze.

       The Panthers should be in contention for a playoff spot in region six this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2013 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2023.

       The Panthers open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Oneonta on Friday, August 25 at Gilbreath Stadium. Last year the Oneonta Redskins finished with an overall record of 11-2 and in third place in Class 4A region six. The Redskins lost in the semi-finals round of the Class 4A playoffs to Cherokee County by a score of 42-21.

       Cleveland and Oneonta have met a total of 45 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 6-35-4 record against the Redskins. They last met in 2022 with Oneonta winning by a score of 47-14.

       Cleveland lost 2A All-State  offensive lineman Riley Branham to graduation. He was named to the honorable mention team last season.
