Hubbertville completed the 2022 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Hubbertville finished sixth in Class 1A region five with a 3-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Hubbertville took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2017. Since 2010, Hubbertville has gone a combined 100-50. Their 66.7% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class 1A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Hubbertville has managed to compile a record of 146-128. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 1A and 156th in the AHSAA. The Lions are led by head coach Caleb Hynds who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 12-9 over the past two seasons at Hubbertville. Under his direction the Lions have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hynds. Over the course of his career, Coach Hynds' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times and won one region championship. The Lions will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region five this season. The Lions open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent University Charter School on Friday, August 25 at Wiley Hollingsworth Stadium. Last year the University Charter School finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in sixth place in Class 1A region three. The closed out the regular season with a loss to Choctaw County by a score of 31-14. Hubbertville and University Charter School have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Lions have a 2-1-0 record against University Charter School. They last met in 2022 with Hubbertville winning by a score of 18-8.
