Lance Tucker ranks third in AHSAA history with 9,309 yards in total offense, 8,166 passing and 1,143 rushing playing for his father Waldon Tucker at Fayette County High.

Coach Tucker, who started passing for the varsity as a seventh-grader and went on to play quarterback at the University of Alabama, landed his first head coaching job at Sipsey Valley in 2010. It was the first season for the upstart football program.

He had been employed in private industry, but helped his father as an assistant coach for the previous 10 years.

In 2011 he returned home to Fayette County to take over the football program when his father retired as the winningest coach in state history. His eight teams at the school finished 76-31 and reached the playoffs each season.

He accepted the head coaching job at Bartlett High in Tennessee for the next four seasons between 2019-2022 and his teams went 33-14 with three more playoff appearances.

He would return to Alabama following the 2022 football season to take over the program at Demopolis.
