Lakeside completed the 2023 season with a 6-5 record. With their 2-2 region record and a fourth place finish in Class A region one, the Chiefs earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Lakeside's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Wilcox Academy by a score of 23-16. The Chiefs improved in 2023 with their first winning season since 2018. The Chiefs won as many games as in any season since 2017. Since 2010, Lakeside has gone a combined 67-82. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class A over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Lakeside has managed to compile a record of 120-141. Their 46.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class A and 20th in the AISA. Coaching Change: Buck McDonald 2024 Head Coach: Tom Clements returns to Lakeside after a one year absence as the head football coach. Over the course of his career, Coach Clements' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times . Season Outlook: The Lakeside Chiefs will play in Class A region one during the 2024 season. The Chiefs should be in contention for a playoff spot in region one this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2015 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2024. Season Opener: The Chiefs open the 2024 season on the road against region opponent Macon-East Academy on Friday, August 30 at Knight Field. Last year the Macon-East Academy Knights finished with an overall record of 1-10 and in fourth place in Class AA region one. The Knights lost in the first round of the Class AA playoffs to Banks Academy by a score of 40-0. Lakeside and Macon-East Academy have met a total of 10 times on the football field.
