 2024 Preview 


       Providence Christian completed the 2023 season with a 5-6 record. With their 5-3 region record and a third place finish in Class 3A region two, the Eagles earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Providence Christian's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Trinity by a score of 31-14.

       It marked the first time since the 2020 season that the Eagles qualified for the playoffs.

       Providence Christian was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Eagles want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.2 points a game.

       Since 2010, Providence Christian has gone a combined 88-63. Their 58.3% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 2A over the past fourteen seasons.

       Over the past 18 seasons, Providence Christian has managed to compile a record of 109-84. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 15th in Class 2A and 123rd in the AHSAA.

Head Coach:
       The Eagles are led by head coach Kenny Keith who is entering his thirteenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 73-55 over the past twelve seasons at Providence Christian. Under his direction the Eagles have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Keith.

Season Outlook:

       The Providence Christian Eagles will play in Class 2A region two during the 2024 season. The Eagles may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 3A to 2A. They will compete in region two this year.

      

       After a two year absence the Eagles qualified for the playoffs last season and finished with a 5-6 record. Coach Keith and his team will drop down to 2A this year and may just find the new region and cast of opponents more to their liking in 2024.

    The Eagles have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region two this season.

Season Opener:
       The Eagles open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Wicksburg on Friday, August 23 at Providence Christian Stadium. Last year the Wicksburg Panthers finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 2A region two. The Panthers lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Reeltown by a score of 34-14.

       Providence Christian and Wicksburg have met a total of 13 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 8-5-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in 2021 with Wicksburg winning by a score of 20-0.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Collinsville completed the 1931 season with a record of 1-4-5. The five ties will forever be a state record since all games are now decided by overtime.
