2024 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Colbert County completed the 2023 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 3A region eight, the Indians earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Colbert County's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Winfield by a score of 43-21. Since 2010, Colbert County has gone a combined 100-65. Their 60.6% winning percentage ranks 21st in Class 3A over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Colbert County has managed to compile a record of 206-105. Their 66.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class 3A and 54th in the AHSAA. The Indians have been successful on the football field with twenty-two winning seasons during this time. Head Coach: The Indians are led by head coach Scotty Hannah who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 13-10 over the past two seasons at Colbert County. Under his direction the Indians have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hannah. Season Outlook: The Colbert County Indians will play in Class 3A region seven during the 2024 season. Following realignment, the Indians remain in 3A but move from region eight over to region seven. The Colbert County Indians have won 683 games in the football program's history which is the 7th most of any school in the state. Recently though they have found themselves winning but not as much as they did in years past. It's been almost ten years since they posted a ten win season and sixteen since the last region championship. Head coach Scotty Hannah has high hopes of not just winning some games and making the playoffs but winning region championships and competing for titles. The Indians have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region seven this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2011 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2024. Season Opener: The Indians open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Central Florence on Friday, August 23 at C.T. Manley Stadium. Last year the Central Florence Wildcats finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 4A region seven. The Wildcats lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Cherokee County by a score of 56-28. Colbert County and Central Florence have met a total of 44 times on the football field. The Indians have a 38-5-1 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2019 with Colbert County winning by a score of 34-28. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
