Crenshaw Christian completed the 2023 season with a 7-5 record. With their 2-2 region record and a third place finish in Class A region one, the Cougars earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Crenshaw Christian's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Jackson Academy by a score of 46-28. The Cougars lost as many games as in any season since 2016. Since 2010, Crenshaw Christian has gone a combined 105-57. Their 64.8% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class AA over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Crenshaw Christian has managed to compile a record of 183-99. Their 65.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class AA and 4th in the AISA. Graduated All-State Players: Crenshaw Christian lost AISA All-State athlete Brayden Moore to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating was teammate linebacker Drake Mills. Head Coach: The Cougars are led by head coach Brandon Burleson who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-5 record in his first season at Crenshaw Christian. Under his direction the Cougars have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Burleson. Season Outlook: The Crenshaw Christian Cougars will play in Class AA region one during the 2024 season. The Cougars move up in classification to Class AA. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move. The Cougars are considered one of the favorites for the region one championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Cougars have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2013 and expect to be included again when November rolls around. Season Opener: The Cougars open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Fort Dale Academy on Friday, August 23 at Fort Dale Stadium. Last year the Fort Dale Academy Eagles finished with an overall record of 9-3 and in third place in Class AAA region one. The Eagles lost in the semi-finals round of the Class AAA playoffs to Lee-Scott Academy by a score of 42-3. Crenshaw Christian and Fort Dale Academy have met a total of 28 times on the football field. The Cougars have a 11-17-0 record against the Eagles.
