 2024 Preview 


       D.A.R. finished the 2023 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year D.A.R. finished eighth in Class 4A region eight with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The defense allowed a team record 625 points last season.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as D.A.R. averaged scoring just 10.1 points a game. The Patriots also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 62.5 points a game.

       The Patriots would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 1-19 record. Since 2010, D.A.R. has gone a combined 51-94. Their 35.2% winning percentage ranks 51st in Class 4A over the past fourteen seasons.

       Over the past 18 seasons, D.A.R. has managed to compile a record of 69-116. Their 37.0% winning percentage ranks 53rd in Class 4A and 312nd in the AHSAA.

Coaching Change:
     Kyle Davis  leaves D.A.R. for Florala after just one season where his team finished the 2023 football season with an 0-10 record.

2024 Head Coach:
    Matt Putnam  Over the course of his career, Coach Putnam's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times and won one region championship.

Season Outlook:

       The D.A.R. Patriots will play in Class 4A region eight during the 2024 season.

      

       The Patriots enter the 2024 season in the middle of a 14 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

       The Patriots suffered through the worst season in school history finishing a dismal 0-10 last season. Can a new Coach right the ship this year at D.A.R.?

    This season, the Patriots will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region eight. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at D.A.R. will be to simply win some games.

Players to Watch in 2024:
      QB Gage Davis will be returning for his sophomore season after completing 171-of-378 passes for 1,950 yards and 9 TDs last season.

WR Alex Rice, WR DB Blakley Childress

Season Opener:
       The Patriots open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Brindlee Mountain on Friday, August 23 at Lions Den. Last year the Brindlee Mountain Lions finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in seventh place in Class 3A region seven. The Lions closed out the regular season with a loss to Gaston by a score of 61-42.

       D.A.R. and Brindlee Mountain have met a total of 17 times on the football field. The Patriots have a 14-3-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2021 with D.A.R. winning by a score of 39-2.
