Edgewood Academy completed the 2023 season with a 4-7 record. With their 3-1 region record and a second place finish in Class AA region one, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Edgewood Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Clarke Prep by a score of 21-14. The Wildcats lost as many games as in any season since 2017. As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Edgewood Academy has gone a combined 119-52. Their 69.6% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class AAA over the past fourteen seasons. Graduated All-State Players: Edgewood Academy lost AISA All-State defensive back Gabe LeMaster to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Season Outlook: The Edgewood Academy Wildcats will play in Class AAA region one during the 2024 season. The Wildcats move up in classification to Class AAA. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move. The Wildcats could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. They have managed to qualify for the playoffs every year since 2017 and hopes are high to extend that streak. Season Opener: The Wildcats open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Hooper Academy on Friday, August 30 at Edgewood Stadium. Last year the Hooper Academy Colts finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in third place in Class AA region one. The Colts lost in the first round of the Class AA playoffs to Patrician Academy by a score of 52-13. Edgewood Academy and Hooper Academy have met a total of 24 times on the football field.
