2024 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Huffman finished the 2023 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year Huffman finished seventh in Class 6A region six with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The defense allowed a team record 578 points last season. The Vikings last playoff victory came during the 2001 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Huffman averaged scoring just points a game. The Vikings also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of points a game. The Vikings would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 1-19 record. Since 2010, Huffman has gone a combined 37-104. Their 26.2% winning percentage ranks 55th in Class 6A over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Huffman has managed to compile a record of 107-155. Their 41.0% winning percentage ranks 44th in Class 6A and 279th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2007. Head Coach: The Vikings are led by head coach Rodney Bivens Jr. who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 0-10 record in his first season at Huffman. The Vikings have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Bivens Jr.. Season Outlook: The Huffman Vikings will play in Class 6A region six during the 2024 season. The Vikings enter the 2024 season in the middle of a 11 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. To say the Huffman Vikings' football program has fallen upon hard times would be an understatement. They finished last year 0-10 but did something unthinkable in that they did not score a single point in any game. They also allowed opponents to score 578 points. This season, the Vikings will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region six. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Huffman will be to simply win some games. Season Opener: The Vikings open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Midfield on Friday, August 23 at Vikings Stadium. Last year the Midfield Patriots finished with an overall record of 3-5 and in fifth place in Class 3A region five. Huffman and Midfield have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Vikings have a 2-1-0 record against the Patriots. They last met in 1993 with Huffman winning by a score of 24-21. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
