2024 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ohatchee completed the 2023 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Ohatchee just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 3A region six with a 3-4 region record. Since 2010, Ohatchee has gone a combined 82-72. Their 53.2% winning percentage ranks 27th in Class 3A over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Ohatchee has managed to compile a record of 136-134. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 3A and 191st in the AHSAA. Head Coach: The Indians are led by head coach Chris Findley who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 8-13 over the past two seasons at Ohatchee. Under his direction the Indians have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Findley. Season Outlook: The Ohatchee Indians will play in Class 3A region six during the 2024 season. The Ohatchee Indians will play in a wild region in 2024 with nine total teams and what will most certainly be a fight for those four available playoff spots. They return a couple of experienced running backs in Nate Jones and Colby Hester along with quarterback Jake Roberson who saw a lot of action in 2023. The Indians plan on opening it up a bit more on offense with Jake Roberson returning at quarterback and Colby Hester at receiver. The Indians could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region six this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Ohatchee came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year. Players to Watch in 2024: QB Jake Roberson will be returning for his senior season after completing 49-of-106 passes for 894 yards and 6 TDs last season. RB Nate Jones will be back after rushing for 850 yards and 6 TDs last season. Also returning is RB Colby Hester who ran for 607 yards and 5 TDs last season. He also caught 23 passes for 517 yards. Returning Starters: ALL-COUNTY: Nate Jones, RB, Sr.; Colby Hester, WR, Sr.; Tristan Kiker, OL, Sr.; Jake Roberson, QB, Sr.; Deacon Engle, LB, Sr.; Gus Hunter, TE/DL, So.; Ayden McNair, OL, Sr.; Owen Abernathy, OL, Sr.; Sam Jones, DL, Sr.; Briley Carter, DB, Sr.; Kanyon Cox, OL/DL, Sr. Season Opener: The Indians open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent New Hope on Friday, August 23 at Ragan Clark Stadium. Last year the New Hope Indians finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 4A region eight. The Indians ended last season on a positive note with a win over Plainview by a score of 28-26 after failing to gain a playoff spot. This will be the second meeting between Ohatchee and New Hope on the football field. The Indians have a 1-0-0 record against the Indians.
