 2024 Preview 


       Patrician Academy completed the 2023 season with a 8-4 record. With their 3-1 region record and a second place finish in Class AA region two, the Saints earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Last year Patrician Academy reached the semi-finals before falling to a very good Chambers Academy team by the score of 38-2.

       The Saints hope to get back closer to the 13-0 record in 2022.

       Over the past two seasons the Saints have Finished 21-4 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, Patrician Academy has gone a combined 109-56. Their 66.1% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class AA over the past fourteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Patrician Academy has managed to compile a record of 186-102. Their 65.0% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class AA and 5th in the AISA.

Graduated All-State Players:
       Patrician Academy lost AISA All-State  defensive lineman Jay Lindsey to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating was teammate running back Carson Coody.

Season Outlook:

       The Patrician Academy Saints will play in Class AA region two during the 2024 season.

      

      

    The Saints have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region two this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2001 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2024.

Season Opener:
       The Saints open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Bessemer Academy on Friday, August 30 at Hannah-Hesselman Field. Last year the Bessemer Academy Rebels finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in fifth place in Class AAA region one. The Rebels lost in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs to Autauga Academy by a score of 29-20.

       Patrician Academy and Bessemer Academy have met a total of 7 times on the football field. The Saints have a 5-2-0 record against the Rebels. They last met in 2013 with Bessemer Academy winning by a score of 27-6.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Luverne 'Toad' Wise was the first female football player in Alabama and may have been the first in the country. She was a kicker for the Escambia County Blue Devils in 1939-40.
