 2024 Preview 


       Samson finished the 2023 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Samson finished sixth in Class 2A region two with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Samson was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 15.7 points a game.

       The Tigers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, Samson has gone a combined 68-79. Their 46.3% winning percentage ranks 35th in Class 2A over the past fourteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Samson has managed to compile a record of 100-159. Their 39.0% winning percentage ranks 45th in Class 2A and 308th in the AHSAA.

Head Coach:
       The Tigers are led by head coach Jason Wambles who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 25-36 over the past six seasons at Samson. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Wambles. Over the course of his career, Coach Wambles' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times .

Season Outlook:

       The Samson Tigers will play in Class 2A region two during the 2024 season.

      

       The last two seasons have not been kind to the Tigers from Samson. Can they turn things around in 2024?

    The Tigers could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region two this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Samson missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2024.

Season Opener:
       The Tigers open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Pike Liberal Arts on Friday, August 30 at Dewight Ward Field. Last year the Pike Liberal Arts Patriots finished with an overall record of 3-6 and in place in Class Ind region ten. The Patriots ended last season on a positive note with a win over Calhoun by a score of 43-18 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       This will be the second meeting between Samson and Pike Liberal Arts on the football field. The Tigers have a 1-0-0 record against the Patriots. They last met in with
