 2024 Preview 


       Springville completed the 2023 season with a 5-6 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 5A region six, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Springville's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Guntersville by a score of 31-7.

       The Tigers won as many games as in any season since 2011. It marked the first time since the 2009 season that the Tigers qualified for the playoffs. The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 2005 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

       Since 2010, the Springville football program has struggled with a record of 42-98.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Springville has managed to compile a record of 133-135. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 5A and 178th in the AHSAA.

Head Coach:
       The Tigers are led by head coach Jon Clements who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 10-21 over the past three seasons at Springville. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Clements. Over the course of his career, Coach Clements' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times .

Season Outlook:

       The Springville Tigers will play in Class 5A region six during the 2024 season.

      

       The Tigers will be without last year's starting running back Mahlon Alverson who graduated along with the 1,581 yards and 18 touchdowns he scored last season.

       The Tigers finished last season 5-6 but were much more competitive against most of their competition. The five wins were the most for the program since 2011 so there was some improvement for sure. It also marked their first playoff appearance since the 2009 football season.

       Can Coach Clements continue the recent success at Springville?

    The Tigers have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region six this season.

Season Opener:
       The Tigers open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Ashville on Thursday, August 22 at Ken Logan Stadium. Last year the Ashville Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in seventh place in Class 4A region six. The Bulldogs closed out the regular season with a loss to Munford by a score of 35-21.

       Springville and Ashville have met a total of 57 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 29-25-3 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2019 with Springville winning by a score of 10-7.
