Week Twelve Tidbits & Records

The playoffs are here. The first round is complete and now we inch closer to the Super 7. Here are a few tidbits from the first round of the playoffs.

   *   This will be an abbreviated article this week due to personal circumstances. I do apologize.

   *   We will have all the usual things posted throughout the weekend and next week.
  
   *   Fyffe has been ranked by the ASWA for an amazing 176 consecutive polls dating back to the 2009 season.  The Red Devils closed the regular season as the #5 team in 3A in the final ASWA poll.

   *   The current longest winning streak among the AHSAA schools now belongs to Catholic Montgomery with a string of 25 straight victories.  The Knights took down Holtville in the first round 52-0 for their fifth shutout of the season.  Lowndes Academy in the AISA has a 29 game streak going after defeating Jackson Academy 47-0.

   *   Columbia now holds onto the longest losing streak at 91 straight contests.  They now hold the all-time record for consecutive losses.

   *  The #1 ranked Catholic Montgomery Knights have won 43 straight regular season games.

   *   The Saraland Spartans, ranked #1 in 6A, are rolling along with 31 consecutive home wins.  The Spartans defeated Chelsea 42-3 last week.  They will host McAdory this week.

   *   Catholic Montgomery also holds onto the longest road winning streak having won 27 consecutive road games. The Knights will be back on the road this week as they travel to Citronelle.

   *   The Fyffe Red Devils extended their streak of consecutive games scoring once again this past week.  They are currently sitting on a string of 331 games without being shutout.  T.R. Miller sits atop this list with a string of 354 games.

 * St. Michael set a team record in a win 63-40 over Handley breaking the previous record set in a victory over T.R. Miller 55-54 on 10/27/2023.

 * Abbeville Christian set a team record in a 72-22 loss to South Choctaw Academy breaking the previous record set in a loss to Crenshaw Christian 70-38 on 10/13/2017.

 * Bob Jones set a team record in a 63-27 loss to Auburn breaking the previous record set in a loss to Decatur 61-19 on 10/6/2000.

 * Midfield set a team record in a 69-40 loss to Mars Hill breaking the previous record set in a loss to Gordo 61-18 on 9/20/2024.


Points Scored by Both Teams in a Game

 * Mars Hill set a team record in a 69-40 victory over Midfield breaking the previous record set when they defeated Sheffield 71-38 on 9/4/2020.

 * Midfield set a team record in a loss 69-40 to Mars Hill breaking the previous record set in a loss to Cleveland 61-46 on 11/12/2021.

 * Trinity set a team record in a 65-42 victory over Randolph County breaking the previous record set in a loss to Cordova 54-40 on 11/14/2008.

 * Catholic Montgomery has won a team record 25 consecutive games since 8/25/2023.
