 The 1953 Greenville Tigers were chosen Class AA State Champions by the Birmingham News from District 1.
 

 
 

Greenville defeated Eufaula and tied UMS to claim the 1952 Birmingham News state championship for Districts one and two.

Senior lettermen were David Herring, Frank Riley, Jimmy Salter, Leroy Hanks, Bobby Terrell, Carl Ferguson, Ronny McDowell, Jerry Washburn, Mack Wood, Wilson Whidden, Delaney Kirven, Reese Russell and Aubrey Dunn.

Head coach Luke Whetstone was assisted by H.F. Grantham during the season.
