Major Brown was a graduate of State Teachers College Institute and Alabama State.
Major Brown coached Parker to 58 straight victories as the head basketball coach at Parker High School.
Coached football at Parker High School in Birmingham for 22 years and never had a losing season. His 1951 team finished with a 9-1 record and outscored their opponents by a combined 329 to 49 score.
Brown served on the Birmingham City Board of Education for 11 years as an assistant physical education supervisor. The Major Brown Foundation, a provider of scholarships for athletes, has been established in his honor.
