Rodney Dollar

Rodney Dollar played baseball, football and basketball at Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama. He received his degree from Auburn University. He played baseball in the Houston Astros organization before deciding on a career in coaching that has spanned the last 27 years.

Dollar landed his first head coaching position at Glenwood Academy in 1988 for two season where he led the team to a 14-9 record. Headland was the next stop for another three years with a record of 7-20.

Dollar spent a year at Samson High School in 1994 and the team finished 10-2, won the region title and advanced to the second round of the state playoffs.

He spent the 1995 season as an assistant coach at Daleville before moving to Frisco City as the new coach of the Whippetts. His three year record was 25-11 with each team making a playoff appearance.

Coach Dollar moved to Houston Academy in 1999 for his longest tenure as a head coach. He stayed at the school for eight season with a 63-27 record. His last six teams qualified for the playoffs and four of his teams won region titles. His 2005 and 2006 teams finished the regular season undefeated only to lose in the playoffs.

In 2011, Coach Dollar accepted the head coaching job at Pike County. He lost the first four games of that season before taking a leave and later stepping down due to medical issues. Dollar returned in 2012 as an assistant at Bullock County High School in Tuskegee.

The Carbon Hill Bulldogs welcomed in Rodney Dollar as their new coach in 2013. He took over a program that finished 0-10 in 2012 under the direction of former coach Royce Young, who led the Carbon Hill program for three years before taking a position on the staff at Cordova High School.

Coach Dollars overall record stands at 151-103 in 23 seasons. Dollar was the Montgomery Advertiser Class 5A-6A All-Metro Coach of the Year in 2009 when he led the Tigers to the first region title since 1999.
