 College Football Playoff History 


     The College Football Playoff is an annual postseason invitational tournament to determine a national champion for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).

     The first truly playoffs to determine a national champion was held in 2014 with four teams participating in the playoffs. In 2024 the playoffs will expand to 12 teams.

Great Moments in College Football History

The first bowl game, later known as The Rose Bowl, was played on January 1st, 1902 between the Michigan Wolverines and Stanford Cardinals. Michigan won 49-0.
