After 33 years of following my alma mater, I've finally experienced in person a Shades Valley team winning a state championship ! The Lady Mounties defeated Sparkman tonight 63-49, dominating them in the fourth quarter 28-9 to overcome cold shooting in the first three quarters. Go Lady Mounties ! What a resurgence in Mountie sports !

The Shades Valley girls finally made it back to the Final 48 after falling short in the regionals the last few years. I'm planning on being there.

Found in the 47-48 Shades Cahaba annual. They said it was their second year of basketball, making the 46-47 team the first. Also, O.P. 'Piggy' Mitchell is the basketball coach for the 47-48 year.
