Posted - 10/01/2010 : 22:58:20 I was at the Shades Valley game tonight. Austin scores to lead 38-35 with 6:21 left in the fourth. They line up to kick off to us, suddenly the transformer blows up across the street with a huge fireworks display. All the lights go out in the stadium, and panic, of course, ensues. They announce the power company is on it's way. So we sit there for close to an hour, then a bunch of men come around shooing everyone out. No announcement as to what's going to happen, or what did happen. If they happened to award the win to Austin, it would have been nice if the power went out a couple of minutes beforehand, as we led the whole game before the transformer blew. Did we win or did we lose, or do we finish the game later tonight or tomorrow, as of now I have no idea. So goes our odd season.

Posted - 10/02/2010 : 01:49:05 Yeah, I read the al.com report on the game saying Coach Coleman said he had that happen once in the quarterfinals and they waited all night to finish the game. So I knew by him saying that they were going to finish it tonight.
I knew I'd be having a fit wanting to know what happened, so because of what I read, at 12:20 AM I decided to head back up there and ride by. I noticed the lights were back on. Luck has it I looked up in the stands where I sit and there sat these filmers who had been there previously, so I pulled into the lot. I'm happy to tell my girlfriend that I wasn't the only one there when I got there, lol. We had about 15 people, so there, lol. The Austin people outnumbered the home fans by then, though, obviously. So we have a 15 minute warm-up for the teams. Finally at 10 till 1 we resume play, Austin leading 38-35. We score, then Austin repays the score. Finally we miss a 35 yard FG attempt to tie on the final play, and Austin wins 45-42 at 1:13 AM. I wonder how many places will actually have the correct score since it ended so late. We will at least. That was the longest football game timewise I've ever watched in person, and latest ending. Though you can't really say that because I went home, ate, watched the news and so on during the fireworks intermission. Though it was tied for the 2nd most points scored by both teams in a SV game, and was the most points scored in a losing cause by SV. Exciting game even in defeat, plus we got free fireworks....

Posted - 10/02/2010 : 01:05:17 This really happened to me once. In about 1987 my oldest son was like eight years old. We always attended the games and the boys always went with us. We were playing Satsuma at home and out of nowhere he asked what would happen if the lights went out. I told him that never happened and in reality I had never seen it in many years of watching games at home.
Anyway, later in the game a transformer blows and the lights go out. ALL OF THEM. It is pitch black dark.
What are the odds that he asked that question on the very night the lights go out?
Shane, I heard on the radio they were going to try and finish the game tonight but I really don't know. I would think they would not travel to finish the last six minutes.
