Here is what I have so far after the first round of the playoffs concerning competitive balance and the schools involved.
Coosa Christian - If they win a second round game they will remain in 2A. If the lose they could possibly fall back to 1A unless enrollment increases. They can not be moved up to 3A since they did not make the playoffs last year.
Tuscaloosa Academy - Up to 3A since they won a first round game.
Providence Christian - Stays in 2A unless they make the Super 7.
Bayside Academy - Stays in 3A unless they make the Super 7.
Trinity - Stays in 3A unless they make the Super 7.
Mars Hill - Up to 4A.
Montgomery Academy - Stays in 3A unless they make the Super 7.
Houston Academy - Stays in 3A since they lost the first round game.
St. James - Drops back to 3A since they did not make the playoffs unless enrollment increases enough.
Mobile Christian - Stays in 4A.
Madison Academy - Stays in 4A unless they make the Super 7.
St. Michael - If they make the Super 7 they will move up to 5A.
Catholic Montgomery - Moving up to 6A.
UMS-Wright - Will remain in 5A since they made the 3rd round last year.
St. Paul's - Could mover down to 5A if enrollment does not keep them in 6A.

They are horrible at it, but to be fair, so do a lot of city schools as well. Look at Muscle Shoals, all of a sudden they got good after Hazlewood consolidated with Hubbard. |

What does a small high school get out of recruiting football players? I mean really, is it to win? They dont make much money, do they, by winning? Is it for prestige? There isnt a lot on the line for small schools like Mars Hill by winning state championships when everyone knows you're a football factory. Its not big money college, I mean there is some money in HS football but it cant be huge. High schools are supposed to be educational, for kids! Having 25% of your student body as football players doesnt make sense to me. |

Not to beat a dead horse but I think it is generally accepted that pretty much everyone believes strongly that most private schools recruit.
I know there is a competitive balance thing that they go through, and they have a student modifier so I really don't worry to much about it. If the state board has an issue with then raise the student modifier up. |

I doubt Mars Hill will have any trouble adjusting to 4A. They've routinely beaten 4A and 5A schools. I was looking at their site and it appears they have over 40 players on the varsity football team. With an enrollment of approx 175 thats 25% of the school population. How many schools have that kind of player/enrollment ratio? |

That's interesting about Coosa. We remember they were a really good team last year, just had to forfeit most of their wins. They could potentially dominate 2A the next two seasons with a possible 2A title this year. |
