Anyone been keeping track of the incident with Nibblet's Gainesville team?
In their most recent game, the opposing team started a fight and his team got involved with several running off the sidelines.
We all know if you run off the sideline, you stand a change at getting disqualified for the next game.
I think he had 39 get disqualified. They appealed and now have about 35 still disqualified.
Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were.
I understand what he is saying about protecting your teammates, but the rule is the rule.
Just curious what everyone's thoughts were.

Coaches are out numbered and it isnt their job to control fights. Understand most will help but if one gets physical with a player their days of coaching are numbered.

Lots of faults and the ones being punished are the youngest ones in the crowd because the adults didnt prepare properly.

It's certainly not the officials' job to control/stop a fight. Even if they tried, they're likely to get injured doing so. They also face the potential of litigation if they get involved physically. If the coaches can't control them, the officials definitely can't. They certainly don't respect officials more than their coaches.

This is entirely on GHS players and coaches, nobody else. Control what you can control: yourself.
While I largely agree with this, what were the 10 defensive players who were already on the field supposed to do? Only one of the defensive players was really involved in the altercation. Players leaving the sideline, sure, suspend them. But I don't think the defensive players who were already on the field and did not throw punches should have been. |

1. Everyone knows the rule: Leave the Sideline during a fight, you're participating in the fight, and face suspension.
2. The players were not disciplined enough to follow #1.
3. The coaches didn't instill enough discipline for #2.
4. The coaches should have immediately controlled their sideline to ensure players stayed where they were in case of #3.
