I wonder if there's ever been a school that's changed buildings and names in mid-year, and also changed the name for their sports teams at the same time. Jess Lanier moved into their new Bessemer City High School building this past Tuesday, and in turn their basketball teams are now known as Bessemer City. They have a new gym and everything. It would be sort of odd for teams who played Jess Lanier in December and then have a rematch in January with Bessemer City. An article during the football season also said that the Hoover game was the last game at Snitz Snider, but I have yet to ride by and see what the new school looks like and where a stadium might be. It still seems odd to me to change the name mid year. There's been several schools changing buildings mid-year but keeping the same name. I also seem to recall some school locally changing buildings mid-year but keeping the old name until the year was over, though I can't recall who.
