Carver Birmingham has no opponent scheduled for this week. Is that a typo or just no game scheduled with an off week?
Headland had a bye last Friday night also has one this coming Friday night. Is that normal for teams to have two bye weeks in a season let alone back to back weeks with a bye? |

If my memory serves, last year Carver played Permian High of Friday Night Lights fame this week last year (or maybe it was the previous week, one or the other). |

I wondered who sponsored the trip for Carver but thought it was a great experience for those kids. It had to be expensive to fly the team, coaches, equipment and maybe even fans to West Texas. BTW, the book is really good. It?s a lot different than the movie or TV show and more important it?s accurate. Pretty sure the culture changed after that book came out. Permian did not have their priorities straight. |

Funnily, I knew about the book before the movie or TV show--my dad had it and I read that sucker cover to cover multiple times. It really was messed up how bad Permian's priorities were. As I recall, the author got death threats because of what he published, but none of it was untrue.
I think I read where some of the guys in that book got tied into a mess years later, but I forget the details other than it involved the guy who went to Harvard being involved in beating up some guy. |
