Lee Huntsville is not named after R.E Lee, but named after the road that went in front of the school (Robert E. Lee Hwy). Lee was only supposed to be used informally until a name was chose but it stuck. So Lee Huntsville is just Lee High School not Robert E. Lee High School.
How odd and peculiar, but I looked it up and you're correct. Funny they named it after a highway, yet chose a general as a mascot, and still don't consider his name as part of their name. Kind of reminds me of the Lanier/Sidney Lanier discussion we had a while back, though in that case Sidney Lanier IS called Sidney Lanier, just that the alumni calls it 'Lanier'.
Yes indeed. Very strange to say the least. I will make the necessary changes to get that corrected. Sometimes I should not assume things like the school was named for R.E. Lee.
