This will be a good place throughout tonight and as we look back so here is what I learned on Tuesday night

Tuscaloosa Academys Preston Lancaster is the real deal
Thompsons defense is as advertised but the offense needs work
Moody will be a hard team to beat come November
Parker has improved offensively but need to see more

Priceville will be fine with a new coach and offense as long as they run the ball. It was expected to have some growing pains throwing the ball bit from what I watched they were struggling through the air against Columbia.

Bob Jones has some impressive explosive playmakers on its team but I was a bit underwhelmed with Cullman. Second guessing having them in as the 4th playoff team in their region. I'm not aware of what personnel returned from last year but they had no explosion on offense and QB was getting pummeled all night.

EDIT: The NFHS is in midseason form with failed playbacks and pre-roll ads even though I'm paying a subscription. I guess I'll give it a little credit. So far it's only 1 fifteen second ad for every game I've clicked on. I've seen it in the past where I'd have to sit through a 90 second ad block before the game would come on.

Handley is not the Handley youre thinking of. Theyll be in a downer year.

Wadley has a solid chance to make it to the 1A finals.

I watched Bibb Co vs Chilton County.

Was an absolute flag fest. CC has a decent QB but he spent all night on the run with zero blocking. Bibb won 29-21

3A North is going to be absolutely brutal come the postseason. Fyffe is gonna be Fyffe, Mars Hill made an early statement by crushing 5A Madison Academy, Gordo took 4A Fayette County to the woodshed, Locust Fork destroyed regular 4A contender Oneonta, and Piedmont went toe-to-toe at the line of scrimmage with Cherokee County while throwing for nearly 400 yards in a win. And that's before you throw in teams like Geraldine, Sylvania, and Lauderdale County.

Even though they ended up getting blown out, Moody held Gainesville (Ga) to just 3-0 at the half, and 10-0 later in the 3rd before running out of depth. But keep in mind that not only is Gainesville ranked in the top 75 teams in the nation by MaxPreps, but they are also nearly four times larger than Moody in terms of enrollment. Moody's defense is going to be a force in 5A.

3A appears to have at least 10 teams who could win the title. Should be a fun year.
