8 of the top 10 lost.
Only Bibb County won and the other team that didn't lose did not play.

Has that ever happened before?

26 AHSAA teams in the ASWA top ten lost. The second most all-time in one week. The most ever was back in week one 1992 when 28 top ten teams lost.

But to your question. No. The most teams in any classification to lose in a single week was 7. It has happened several times the most recent in 2022 in week 2 when seven ranked 3A teams lost the same week.

Other times were:
2006 - week 7 in 4A
1999 - Week 1 in 1A
1992 - week 1 in 1A
1987 - week 1 in 4A

We go through this at the beginning of the podcast to be released on Sunday.

Good information. So this season seems to be completely unpredictable in some sense.
