This is the last region I follow pretty closely.

6.) Tharptown: Last years record 0-10

First year coach Brian White has an uphill battle trying to get the Wildcats competitive. Their closest game last year was a 16 point loss to recent startup Belgreen, their next closest was a 24 point loss to Phillips. If from what I am seeing is correct, they have very few seniors. Angel Morales is a good looking T, I just don't know what else they have that would lead me to believe they will be competitive in region. Got to start somewhere though and wish all the best to coach White and the team.

5.) Tanner: Last years record 2-8

Matt Smith comes into his second year looking to get back to the Rattlers of old. Tanner a team generally associated with high powered offenses averaged a paltry 9.9 ppg last season. Matthew Fletcher WR/CB returns to the lead the team this year. He was solid on both sides of the ball and special teams last season. Maikyh Mitchell was a beast on the D line last year, being a really good run stopper, which they will need if they intend to bring down their 41.8 ppg given up last season.

4.) Decatur Heritage Christian: Last years record 7-3

Stop me if you've heard this one before, but DHCA welcomes first year coach Rich Dutton. Dutton has had previous head coaching experience at Lawrence Co and Grissom where he went 48-86. If what I have seen is correct, the Eagles lost some major players through transfer. Zavier Johnson is a force at DE and will give teams headaches, but losing so much offense can't help but hurt a team.

3.) Red Bay: Last years record 2-8

In a consistent theme in this region, Red Bay welcomes in new coach Tyler Jeffreys after their worst season since 2021. Brayden Tabbs CB is coming off a nice 2024 campaign that saw him be the beneficiary of numerous turnovers, they'll need that going forward. Hard hitting MLB Jaxon Vinson is one to watch, especially against the ground game.

2.) Lexington: Last years record 5-6

Lexington is led by first year coach Brett Mask. Mask isn't unfamiliar with the area as having head coached at Colbert County from 17 to 21 where he amassed a 33-23 record. Jake Lard and Andrew England make for a talented duo at linebacker. The biggest question for now is who will lead the offense? I think the Bears look pretty solid on defense.

1.) Winston Co: Last years record 12-1

The Yellow Jackets are coming off a fantastic year, but lost a very good graduating class. Cameron Aderholt is a solid returning player who was great on defense and threat to catch the ball out of the backfield on offense. I expect the defense to be ahead of the offense early and like most teams in this region the question of where to find offense will be the main question. I think WCHS is a little ahead of the other teams in the region.
