This is the region I follow the closest in the state, so here are my predictions.
8.) Munford: Last years record, 2-8 This feels like a make or break season for the Lions under Coach Easley, having only made the playoffs one time during his tenure, Munford suffered it's worst season since their 1-9 season back in 2008. They graduated a talented running back as well in KD McCoy, so he will be a tough man to replace. With another tough schedule, and lots of long drives in this region, it is hard to see much improvement for the Lions.
7.) Cleburne County: Last years record, 1-9. Coach Lee's first season with the Tigers was not one most people will want to go back and remember, falling to a 1-9 record, their worst season since 2017. With most of the contest not even being much of a contest outside of their one win against Talladega. The Tigers will hope to get back into the win column more often this season, but with a difficult schedule, Tiger fans will hope to keep games closer than last season. They were a young squad last season, so a years worth of experience could lean Cleburne County's way.
6.) Talladega: Last years record, 2-8 Unlike the previous schools, Talladega's season last season would be considered a success, snapping the schools longest losing streak in history of 26 straight losses, and putting up competitive games. While unlikely to grab a playoff spot, look for the Tigers of Talladega to continue to improve, and could build towards the future. Coach Dorsey has done an excellent job so far in his short tenure.
5.) Bullock County: Last years record, 5-6 After making the playoffs under Coach Vines, which was only the second time in program history to make the playoffs, the Hornets will look to make it back for a chance to win their first playoff game ever, however it will not be easy. Bullock County had a strong defense, but lackluster offense. The Hornets matchup against Saint James will likely decide the last playoff spot, and the Hornets have gone 1-18 All Time against the Trojans.
4.) Saint James: Last years record, 6-5 Competitive balance has decimated the Trojans, from winning 10 games or more every year, now limping to the playoffs, The return to Class 4A has been anything but kind to the Trojans. This season will likely be the worst in years, with a young team with not much depth, Saint James are just looking forward to their new classification and new region, and it can not come soon enough. However their experienced coaching staff likely guides them into the playoffs.
3.) B.T. Washington: Last years record, 5-4 After their cinderella run in 2023, the Golden Eagles found themselves out of the playoffs in 2024, with close loses dooming them. However with Florida commit Marquez Daniel leading the team, it seems that the Golden Eagles will find their way back to the playoffs like in previous years. They are extremely talented, and will look to find ways to close games, as three of their losses were by a combined 9 points.
2.) Tallassee: Last years record, 9-3 Lawerence O'Neal will look to bring the Tigers back to the postseason after winning the region last season, and making it to the third round of the playoffs. Trent Morris is back to lead the Tigers, however no longer a surprise contender, the Tigers will get the best shot of each team in the region, this region makes it difficult to repeat as champions.
1.) Handley: Last years record, 7-4 Coach Larry Strain retires, and in comes Coach Chris White. While it is difficult to replace a legend like Coach Strain, many coaches in the state have high praise for Coach White and think he should step into the role well. The Tigers had a down season for their standards, with lots of close losses. A difficult schedule once again, but were young last season. I think the Tigers will win the region, and will look to make another run in the playoffs.
