Week 1 was solid (I'm not a week 0 believer), so I'm excited to keep it up, although it certainly will not be easy with some of these games. Expect a boom or bust week for me. As always, the winner is in bold and good luck to everyone else!

Ardmore/Arab: I think this one boils down to class. Ardmore is stepping up to play a 5A school and Arab has the horses to pull away. WINNER: Arab
Lynn/Addison: I might get to this game if my plans work out. Addison has had their way with Lynn over the years and there is no reason to think this year will be any different. WINNER: Addison
East Limestone/Columbia: Columbia's may have snapped that incredibly long losing streak last week but their winning streak stops at 1. WINNER: East Limestone
Tuscaloosa Academy/Hubbertville: Hubbertville was tested last week against a team they've handily beaten in the past. They won but not nearly the margin expected. Is there an over confidence issue at Hubbertville? Maybe there is but it won't matter. WINNER: Hubbertville
Walter Welborn/Woodland: I don?t know much about either of these teams except for old history. Have to just go with class here and Woodland jumping up to play a 2A might be too much to ask. WINNER: Walter Welborn c Hillcrest Tuscaloosa/Hewitt-Trussville: Trussville's explosion on offense last week was surprising against a very good Auburn team. Hillcrest also had an offense explosion last week and I expect another shootout here. WINNER: Trussville
Vestavia Hills/Benjamin Russell: Vestavia is loaded this year. One of their better teams in many years and Benjamin Russell is going to have their hands full. WINNER: Vestavia
Mountain Brook/UMS Wright: This is a very strange matchup and I can?t believe Mountain Brook agreed to travel for this game. Regardless UMS Wright is going to have loads of trouble with the Brookies. WINNER: Mountain Brook
Clay-Chalkville/Thompson: The game of the year! Both teams looked great in their first games against quality competition. One could argue Clay played the tougher game but Thompson looked very good too. WINNER: Thompson
Montgomery Academy/Catholic Montgomery: A good matchup of private schools in close proximity. This should be a rivalry game for them. WINNER: Catholic Montgomery
Selma/Southside Selma: Another rivalry game, seems to be a few of them this week. Selma is bigger, has more experience and this could get sideways fast for Southside Selma. WINNER: Selma
Homewood/Briarwood: The renewal of a rivalry that often had championship implications. I've been lucky enough to see 4 or 5 of these games 20+ years ago and they were always special. The teams where often well matched and in the same region. They traded State Championships for a couple years when Homewood and Briarwood where the class of 5A. I'd love to see this rivalry get back to a yearly event. WINNER: Briarwood
7-5 this week. Better than last weeks 6-6 but still not great.
