I've become very concerned in the last few days about the Texas game. It worried me right after the Florida game when everyone was acting like winning the Texas game was a given, and Alabama would just demolish them. I got a little confident myself between then and around the holidays and was reveling in the accolades the team was getting with the Heisman and all. Now this week I've heard and read some things to make me really worried about Texas. Though I will say I got worried like this before the Florida game and we all know how that turned out. I wasn't ever like that when Alabama played Miami in '93, I had assumed they were going to be demolished that year and I was pleasantly surprised. With this year, it's just this, lest everyone forget, this is Texas, not Texas El Paso or North Texas, but Texas, 13-0 Texas, 7-0-1 all-time against Alabama. I really do hope Saban has kept the team focused on the goal, kept their heads straight and kept them believing that their goals have not totally been accomplished yet.
What's everyone else's thoughts on the game ? I go from feeling slightly confident to being terribly worried, more so on the worried side the closer the game gets.

My thoughts are very simple. One of the happiest days of my football life was the day that Mal Moore hired Nick Saban. I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt we would be playing for a national championship within a few years. Notice I said playing, not necessarily winning. I could not be more excited for the future of the program. Will Alabama win tomorrow? Who knows? I think they have an excelllent chance and actually believe they will win. If they lose it will not be devastating. Why? Because I know we will be back soon for another shot.
There are some important things for Alabama fans to remember. It is very difficult to win a national championship. All I ever wanted was the opportunity to be competetive and have a shot at it every year. Alabama is there. There is no reason to believe they will not be back.
Will Alabama win? I think they will. The matchups are what I always look at and I believe we win most of those. Keep the turnovers to a minimun and the trophy will reside in Tuscaloosa much to the dislike of rival schools. As Charles Barkley said "They are the worst winners in the history of civilization." All I can say to that is 'you shoulda went to BAMA Chuck!'.
Roll Tide Roll!!!!!! The fun is only beginning.

I am feeling very similar to you Shane. It scares me to death to hear all of the talk about building the statue of Saban outside the stadium, like we have already won another NC. It seems that a lot of folks have already wrote the check and deposited it but nothing has been earned yet.

I guess he doesn't notice how Auburn fans are when they're winning does he. Auburn fans are usually 20 times worse than Alabama fans. But that's okay in their minds because it's them. I read in the paper the other day Barkley said what's happening at Alabama now was something like 'his worst nightmare'. What's funny to me is Auburn was unbeaten twice between 1993 and 2004, and they didn't play or win the title, unless you count the Eufaula paper's title, lol. I know in 93 they were on probation, but in 04 all they can fault is themselves for playing weak non-conference competition. It goes to show with them as an example, that just being in the SEC and being undefeated does not guarantee playing for the title, but then again it could just be because it's Auburn. I go for the latter, lol. It reminds me of the pic of the skeleton in the lawn chair with Auburn gear on waiting for the next championship.
I am happy for the opportunity to be playing for the national title, as there are, after all, only 2 teams with that chance every year and Alabama is one of them this year. Saban has put us in a position for the opportunity to be there every year. Hearing and reading the talking head's hyperbole about the game just has me nervous, but then that's what they're there for, lol. Roll Tide !

Well they did it tonight. Not the greatest of games but I'll take it. That makes two big wins for me this year. It's hard to decide which one is the biggest. I think I will just keep that to myself. Shane I would to have that picture of the Auburn fan waiting on their next National Championship.

If it was me, I'd know which one was sweeter for you, which would be the same for me - the one you haven't experienced before. Any team I pull for I'd love to see win the championship at least once. Most of my teams I like have won the title before, Atlanta Braves, Dallas Cowboys, Alabama football, LA Lakers. I'd love to see Alabama's basketball, softball or baseball teams win a title. But it would be especially sweet to see Shades Valley win at least one football state championship. My actual college alma mater, UAB, I'm just happy to see them be successful. I am definitely happy with Alabama's win, though. As I was told last year when Alabama beat Auburn, things are back to the way they ought to be.
Piedmont's journey mirrored Alabama's this year in several ways. They both had their own 'Florida' to deal with, then they had to still win the title.
Send me an email at spaschalsv1@mindspring.com and I'll send you the Auburn skeleton pic.

Thanks again Shane I had a lot of fun yesterday with the pictures you sent me. One of my Auburn fans would only glance at then ever now and then, he wanted to know what I had but didn't want to seem too interested.
