These two teams have played a total of 91 times but sadly the series was placed on pause in 2014 when the AHSAA went to seven classifications making it difficult for the two to continue to play each other. Hopefully sometime in the future it will resume. Foley leads the series with a 50-38-3 record. The Lions won the last nine games in the series after the Tigers had won eight consecutive contests. The Tigers also won the first eleven games played between 1923-1936. In 1979 the Tigers defeated Foley 10-6 to hand them the only loss of the season and knock the Lions out of the state playoffs. The same thing happened back in 1960 to knock the Lions out of a shot at a mythical championship. The Tigers finished 9-1 in 1956 with the only loss coming at the hands of the Lions. The teams first met in 1924 when Foley fielded their first football team and that meeting was the only game the Lions played that year. They have played every year since except in 1927 and 1930 when misunderstandings between the schools put a pause to the rivalry.
