Hamilton leads the series with Winfield 54-32-5. The series was actually tied at the end of the 1971 season at 21-21-5 before the Aggies began to dominate the long series with a record of 33-11 over the past 44 seasons. The teams first met in 1922 with Hamilton taking a 46-0 victory over the Pirates. Since that initial meeting, the teams have played each season except during World War II for a total of 91 games. While Hamilton is in the Marion County and Winfield is in a city school system it only helps to add to the rivalry. The towns are 20 miles apart and both are in Marion County. Well almost. Winfield is actually partially in Marion and Fayette County. In 2005 the Aggies lost their first five games of the season before getting hot and reeling off five straight wins including a 21-8 victory over No. 3 ranked Winfield in the season finale. It was the only loss for Winfield during the regular season. The schools are located about 25 miles apart in Marion County.
