Game: Played Friday December 3, 1971 at Legion Field Birmingham
Summary: Tarrant would jump out to a 12-0 first quarter lead only to have W.S. Neal come back to take a 13-12 lead in the second quarter.
At that point Tarrant began to pour it on and never relented as
they pulled away with a 34-20 win and a claim to the 1971 Class
3A state championship.
John O'Rear, the talented Tarrant
quarterback, had scored the first two touchdowns for Tarrant to
take the early lead. It would be the first state championship
for Tarrant since the playoffs began.

Foley outscored their opponents 433-6 in 1961. The Lions were named state champions by the Alabama Sports Writers Association that season.
