Summary:
          The St. Paul's Saints escaped with the Class 5A state championship after having two punts deep in their own territory blocked, including one that gave Briarwood an easy touchdown and looked to have the game headed into overtime. However, St. Paul's Josh Lancaster blocked kicker Matthew Gordon's extra-point attempt to ensure St. Paul's 14-13 win.
          The Saints won their first ever state title at Legion Field with the win. Briarwood had their chances in the fourth quarter but Barrett Trotter had two passes intercepted deep in St. Paul's territory.
          St. Paul's senior Mark Barron won the game's MVP award by rushing for 91 yards on 13 carries while also recording six tackles and an interception on defense. Ivan Matchett led the Saints with 98 rushing yards and a touchdown. quarterback A.J. McCarron completed 9-of-14 passes for 112 yards.
