Allen Stephenson
Allen Stephenson was a graduate of T.W. Martin High School and Jacksonville State University. He took over the head football coaching position at Addison from legendary coach Aubrey Hicks in 1975.
Over the next 17 seasons his teams combined for a 129-64 record on the football field, winning a state championship in 1976 with a perfect 14-0 record. The Bulldogs defeated Brantley 21-6 for the Class 1A title in the game played in Addison.
Stephensons teams won seven area and region championships in his career and made 10 playoff appearances. He also coached basketball and served as the assistant principle at the school.
In 2000 Stephenson was named principal of Addison Elementary School after the school was split off from the high school for two years. He served as a state track meet official, assisted with the management of all-star games and served a term as president of the coaches association.
Stephenson served as a coach on the staff for the 1977 All-Star game in Tuscaloosa. He was inducted into the Alabama High School Athletic Associations Hall of Fame in 2001.
