 Bill Bacon

Bill Bacon, a native of Miami, Florida, posted a 211-85-1 mark with the Enterprise Wildcats and took 16 of his teams to the state playoffs in 25 seasons. He led them to two state football titles in 1979 and 1982.

Bacon also coached the Wildcats to more victories than any Enterprise coach in the schools history. Before coming to Enterprise, Bacon, a graduate of Mississippi State University, led B.C. Rain High School in Mobile to a 30-13-4 record.

As an athlete Coach Bacon was a stellar baseball player. His family moved to Aberdeen, Mississippi, when Bacon was a youngster. He starred in basketball, football and baseball at Aberdeen High School and signed a baseball scholarship with Mississippi State. As a second baseman, Bacon helped lead the Bulldogs to two SEC baseball titles.

In his 25 years at Enterprise, the Wildcats posted just two losing seasons. His 1990 squad started a string of nine consecutive state playoff appearances. Overall, Coach Bacon compiled a 240-98-5 record with seven region championships and seventeen playoff appearances.

He was inducted in the Alabama High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame and the Wiregrass Hall of Fame following his retirement in 2000. Bacon served as president of the coaches association and coached in the Alabama North-South All-Star game in Tuscaloosa and the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic.
