Billy Livings
Billy Livings was born January 14, 1936 in Elmore, Alabama. He played football at Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery before attending the University of Kentucky. Returning to Alabama he spent eight years as the baseball and wrestling coach at his alma mater, Sidney Lanier.
Coach Billy Livings was named the first head football coach at Jeff Davis in 1968 when the Montgomery school opened. In twelve seasons with the Volunteers his teams had a record of 104-22-4 winning a Class 4A State Championship in 1978.
From 1975-1979 Jeff Davis had a region record of 23-0 winning all five region crowns. Following the 1979 season as head coach of the Volunteers, Livings stepped down from his coaching duties at Jeff Davis.
Livings final twenty-six years of coaching were spent at Vero Beach, Florida where his 1981 team won the class 4A state championship with a 12-1 record.
In 26 seasons at Vero Beach his record included 211 wins and 86 losses. His Indians won 15 district titles and qualified for the playoffs 20 times. His playoff record in Florida was 29-19.
Livings overall record at both schools was 314-108-4 and he retired as the second winningest high school coach in Florida athletics history. He is a member of the Montgomery Area Sports Hall of Fame.
Coach Livings would pass away on October 17, 2011 in Vero Beach, Florida at the age of 75.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
Parrish scored a record 77 points in a playoff game against Cedar Bluff in 2001. The Tornados were shutout the following week 19-0 by Courtland.
