 Bobby Wasden 

Bobby Wasden was a standout back for Greenville High School where he was named to the 1955 second team All-State team as a senior by the Birmingham News. Wasden played in the Alabama All-Star Game in Tuscaloosa following his senior season.

Wasden was an offensive end on Auburns 1957 national championship team and played defensive end for the Tigers in 1957-59. He later received his degree from Auburn University.

His first head coaching job came at Georgiana in 1962. In three seasons he led the Bulldogs to a 21-7-1 record. In 1965 Wasden spent one year at Baldwin County High School going 2-8 that season. He returned to Georgiana in 1966 for another seven seasons. His 1971 team finished the year 10-1 losing in the second round of the state playoffs.

In 1973 he moved over to the AISA and Meadowview Christian for two years. He moved on the Woodham high school in Pensacola, Florida for three seasons as the head football coach. Wasden accepted the head coaching job at Demopolis Academy in 1978 for three seasons before returning to Meadowview Christian in 1981.

He led Meadowview Christian Academy in Selma to five state football titles in his two terms as coach over eleven seasons at the helm.

Wasden was named the head football coach at Prattville in 1988 for four seasons. The Lions reached the playoffs each year he was there. In 1991 he retired as a head coach in Alabama with an overall record of 201-87-7 in 27 years as a head coach in Alabama.

Two of his sons, Shayne and Tommy, are also successful prep coaches in Alabama. He was named 6A Coach of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers in 1990 at Prattville.

Coach Wasden was inducted into the Alabama Independent School Associations Hall of Fame in 2002.
