Ragland Purple Devils
Bruce Breland
Bruce Breland was a standout baseball player at Berry High School in Birmingham before taking his talents to Auburn University. He was a member of the 1976 Auburn baseball team that reached the college World Series.
Breland became the head football coach at Coosa Valley Academy in 1983 where he served for two seasons before moving to Bessemer Academy in 1985.
Breland accepted the head football coaching position at Fultondale High School in 2000 and led the program for four seasons before moving to Shelby County for the 2004 seasons as the head football coach. He stayed there for only two seasons.
In 2009, Breland took over the football program at Woodlawn High School in Birmingham for the next four years. He left after the 2012 season and moved to Alma Bryant High School where he took over the head football duties for the Hurricanes in 2013.
Breland accepted the head coaching position at Victory Christian in 2019.
His overall record is 105-133 in 23 seasons as a head football coach in Alabama.
