 David Powell

David Powell graduated from Midfield High School and Jacksonville State.

In 1994 Powell accepted the head coaching position at McAdory High School near Birmingham, Alabama. Powell took over from departing coach Bob Smith.

In 2012, McAdory finished 14-1 and lost only to Spanish Fort 45-14 in the state championship game. The 14 wins are the most in school history and the Super Six trip was also a first for McAdory High School.

His overall football coaching record was 220-76 in twenty-five seasons at the helm at McAdory. Powell's teams qualified for the playoffs following every season except his third at the school. His teams won eleven region championships along the way.

He moved to Sumiton Christian in 2019 as the head football coach for four seasons with a record of 19-23.

His playoff record is 24-26. He also became a successful baseball coach over the years at McAdory winning the 1995 state championship.
