 Dwight Sanderson 

Coach Dwight Sanderson attended Clay County high school where he played football, baseball and basketball. He graduated from Jacksonville State where he played baseball one year. He became the head football coach at Notasulga in 1967 where he remained for the next 14 years.

His 1977 squad finished the season 11-2-1 losing in the state championship game to Ohatchee 32-0.

His 1980 team finished 11-1, before losing in the semi-finals. In 1981 he moved to Valley High School as the head football coach for three seasons. His teams went 15-15 during those three campaigns. Sanderson succeeded legendary coach Doug Lockridge at Valley.

After departing Vally, Sanderson entered administration at Chambers County High School in Milltown for the next eight years. He was employeed by Gordon Central in Georgia from 1993-2006 with duties as a teacher and assistant football coach. He is retired and lives near Notasulga.

in 2014, Notasulga renamed their stadium on behalf of Coach Sanderson and Coach Buddy Knapp. It is now known as Sanderson - Knapp Football Stadium.

Coach Sandersons overall football coaching record in Alabama stands at 102-69-2 7. His team qualified for the playoffs five times and won five area titles during his tenure as a head football coach.
