George Redding, Jr. graduated from Fairview High School in 1995 where he played football for Hall of Fame coach Dafford Smith. A multi-sport athlete, Redding quarterbacked the Aggies to a 9-2 record, and a region title, in 1993 as well as a 10-3 mark in 1994.
Coach Redding attended Wallace State Community College and graduated from Athens University. While in college, he assisted Coach Smith (1995 & 1996) as well as Mark Moore (1997).
In 1998, Redding remained in the Aggie family and became an assistant for Mark Britton (1998-2000) and Phillip Gay (2001-2004). Then, in 2005, he took off to obtain his Masters in Instructional Leadership. Returning to football in 2006, Redding reunited with his mentor becoming the offensive coordinator at St. Bernard.
The following season, 2007, Redding began his head coaching career with the Aggies. In 2013, he became the Assistant Principal at Fairview while remaining as the Head football coach. Over the last six seasons (2019-2024), Redding has a region won-loss record of 32-5 while claiming two region titles and a overall mark of 57-14.
In 2021, Coach Redding directed Fairview to the semi-finals and was recognized by the Alabama Sports Writers Association as the Class 5A Coach of the Year.
During his career, he also assisted with baseball (5 years), basketball (1 year) and was the Head softball coach for two seasons.
