Clarke County Bulldogs
H.C. Elmore
H.C. Elmore became the head football coach at Clarke County High School in Grove Hill, Alabama in 1937. His 1940 team finished with a 7-1-1 record. Elmore stepped down after the 1940 season to take over the football program at Hazlewood for one season, finishing with a 7-2 record.
He returned south to Coffeeville for the 1942 season before World War II broke out in Europe. Coach Elmore spent the 1947-48 seasons back at Clark County.
Elmore landed at Pickens County High School in 1949 for a six year run as the head football coach. His 1950 team went 10-0 and outscored their opponents 213-12 during the season. His 1951 squad won a State Championship awarded by the Birmingham News for Class A District 4 with a 10-0 record.
The 1954 team went 8-0-2 to close out his tenure at Pickens County. Coach Elmore would return to coach the Tornados once again in 1963 for two years before retiring from the football field.
Coach Elmores overall football record is 107-41-12 in 17 years as a head football coach in Alabama.
